Copilot Chat in Outlook expanded from reasoning over a single email thread to reasoning across the entire inbox, calendar and meetings — surfacing action items and managing the day. Word, Excel and PowerPoint Agents are available to Copilot Chat users too, using web data and referenced files.
Agent 365 — the control plane for agents — became generally available in May 2026, alongside Microsoft 365 E7, the Frontier Suite bundling E5, Entra Suite, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365. Agent 365 covers discovery of shadow AI, agent identity and access, and agents operating with their own credentials.
Data Loss Prevention can now restrict external email content from being processed in Copilot and Copilot Chat. DSPM for AI observability extended to cover agents and Agent 365, sensitivity labels carry through into Copilot-generated files, and AI-generated video and audio now carry watermarks.
